Heritage Meets High Performance: Executive Office Transformation

When the client approached Concept UK, they were looking to breathe new life into three adjoining, long-abandoned offices to create a unified and striking CEO suite and Personal Assistant reception area that would reflect both executive presence and modern functionality. The vision was clear: deliver a space with a Heritage and Country Living character in the CEO zone, paired with a sleek, contemporary feel in the front-of-house office all while overcoming significant access and structural challenges.

This project wasn’t your typical refurbishment. The building began life as an old mill, and its only internal access was via a narrow staircase. That restricted how heavy materials, tools, and fittings could be moved in and out. To tackle this, the team removed a large external window and used a scissor lift to safely bring in demolition equipment and then the new build-in components  a creative logistical solution that kept the project moving without compromising health and safety.

Thoughtful Strip-Out, Structural Stabilisation & Detail Focus

The first phase involved a comprehensive strip-out of the dated existing fabric:

  • Removal and licensed disposal of old glass partitions, non-compliant walling, dilapidated kitchenette, radiators, and worn flooring.
  • Carefully decommissioning fragile, failing tented ceilings revealed a hidden structural issue: original joists were detaching from the wall and an arched window required temporary shoring to stabilise the space. Technical reinforcement and new roof joists were installed before any new ceiling system could be safely fitted.
  • Brickwork re-pinning and pointing above arches restored the character of the space while ensuring long-term durability.

With the shell prepped and stabilised, the team moved into the fit-out phase, aligning with Concept UK’s commitment to design-led, functionally-rigorous spaces.

Modern Comfort, Technical Integration & Bespoke Finishes

The project delivered a complete mechanical and electrical upgrade, bringing the space fully up to modern standards:

  • Over 45 dimmable LED ceiling lights were installed across three working zones, controlled to enhance ambiance and practicality in both the CEO and reception offices.
  • New power, data, and HVAC systems were installed, including high-performance air conditioning units to replace outdated units that were safely decommissioned and disposed of.
  • New insulated plasterboard ceilings, precision plastering, and redecorated brick and plaster walls were finished in premium Farrow & Ball paintwork.

Functionality was balanced with bespoke character and craftsmanship:

  • Acoustic glass partitions created a sense of separation without sacrificing light or connectivity.
  • Custom oak panelling was installed against uneven walls, carefully oil-finished and polished to echo the heritage palette while elevating material quality.
  • Deep timber window seats and a fully integrated kitchenette complete with new electrics, appliances, bespoke cabinetry, and LVT safety flooring  added warmth and convenience.

Final Touches & Outcomes

Completion included luxury all-wool carpet throughout and the installation of a tailored executive workspace with a front office desk, pedestal, and chair. Every element worked together to create a cohesive environment that offers personality, performance, and comfort  a blend of timeless character and contemporary office functionality.

This project is a testament to Concept UK’s ability to deliver bespoke, smartly engineered interiors that not only look exceptional but also work hard for the people using them.
